Through the process of discovery and dialogue, Monochromatic is a body of work conceived from the body of work called Power of Multitudes. This is a series of work examining the possibilities and potentials of the medium of rice. Some of the rice grains have been roasted over low heat for 2-3 hours to reach the different hues. Some colors have been added by mixing paint into the thinset used to adhere the rice to the panel. The color is shown through parboiled grains of rice that are translucent. Each grain of rice has been carefully considered and individually placed on to the surface celebrating the idea of meditation and the discovery of subtle changes.
